Speak Life! Cultivating Our Femininity with Affirmations Based on God's Word

As women seeking to embody the character of Christ and develop on our journey of femininity, it's important for us to cultivate a healthy sense of self-worth and confidence that is rooted in God's truth. One of the ways we can consistently nurture ourselves is by speaking life into ourselves through the use of affirmations based on scripture. Affirmations are positive statements that we can speak to ourselves to reinforce our beliefs and help shape our thought patterns.
Below, I’ve included a list of affirmations backed by scripture that we can use daily.
But first, let’s address why speaking life into ourselves, through the use of affirmations grounded in Biblical scripture, is such a key practice to implement into our routines.
Why speak life?
There is a dated saying, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”.  I can understand the probable intent behind it, but as I came to understand through experience, and undoubtedly you may have as well, this couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The Bible has much to say as to why this is and the power of our words is most explicitly outlined in Proverbs 18:21 which says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.
Now, that's heavy, but we must bear the weight of this scripture.  Our words can lead to life or death and the choice is ours what we want to speak into existence in our lives and the lives of others.
Through studying the Word, we understand the importance of speaking life into ourselves. We know that the words we speak have the power to shape our thoughts, beliefs, and ultimately, our actions. However, it can be all too easy to fall into the trap of negative self-talk and negative self-perception.
This is especially true when it comes to cultivating our femininity.
Our culture often sends mixed messages about what it means to be a woman, and it can be difficult to navigate these messages and to truly understand our worth and value as women. But as believers, we know that our worth and value come from God and not from the world.
This points us to the importance of meditating on God's Word and scripture is full of affirmations that can help us to cultivate our identity & femininity in a healthy and positive way.
Committing to Affirmations
So once we commit to utilizing scripture-backed affirmations in building ourselves up, it's important to remember that these affirmations are not just empty words. They are rooted in truth and in the promises of God. By speaking these affirmations out loud, we are reminding ourselves of who we are in Christ and of the power that we have as women of faith.
It isn’t just about speaking the affirmations; we must believe what we are declaring about ourselves. When we truly believe these affirmations, they will begin to change the way that we see ourselves. We will begin to see ourselves as God sees us – fearfully and wonderfully made, daughters of the King of Kings, new creations in Christ, strong and courageous, capable, graceful and gentle.
It is important to lean into this positive transformation of your mind and your life through your words inspired by God’s Word.
So let's make it a habit to speak life into ourselves- all day, every day!
By repeating these affirmations to ourselves on a daily basis, we can cultivate a healthy sense of self-worth and confidence in our identity that is rooted in God's truth.
Let's remind ourselves of the truth of God's word, and let's believe the affirmations that come from that truth. As we do this, we will begin to see ourselves in a new light, and we will be better equipped to cultivate our femininity in a way that is pleasing to God.

A Few Tips for Implementing Affirmations:

- The 1st time you go through the affirmations, take some time to sit down and look up & read the linked scriptures. Meditate on and internalize the scriptures as you move forward with speaking the affirmations regularly.

- Speak the affirmations while looking into the mirror.  This will give you visual support as you declare who you are in Christ.  Even if it feels a bit uncomfortable at first, this will help build confidence as you see yourself speak life!

- Choose 1-3 affirmations from the list to hold with you throughout the day and try to commit them to memory.  Do this with a few each week to commit them to memory over time.  Soon you'll be bringing them to remembrance like second nature and they'll be great tools for the times when you get caught in a negative thought pattern.

ALWAYS REMEMBER: You are who God says you are! Come into agreement with Him through your words and thoughts daily and watch how it transforms your self-confidence and perspective!
